1985 BMW K100 Project Bike $350 - SOLD!

November 19, 2010

I've owned this bike since 2005. Last year the alternator died, so I purchased a refurbished alternator on eBay, then went on a buying streak to replace some of the other systems on their way out. Then the battery died. To make a long story short I bought another touring bike, so this one needs to go to make space in my garage.

Check out the photos of the bike below and the click on the photos for enlarged views:

It's not the prettiest bike around, but it's far from the ugliest. A few cosmetic issues you should know about: The fairing, where the right indicator light attaches was broken when knocked over; the side panniers are ugly; a few deep paint scratches here and there. The functional issues for which I have purchased replacement parts include: alternator, light switch/horn cluster, clutch lever, and ignition switch. I also purchased a handlebar riser kit for more comfortable touring. It is still in the packaging and is an optional install. Both tires are Dunlop sport-touring and are close to brand new. All the electronics work though the only way to prove it is if you bring along a battery jumper. Performance upgrades to the bike include a Supertrapp muffler and K&N air filter. New forks springs were installed in late 2008h by Die Werkstatt SF along with new rubber boots. All labor was completed by Die Werkstatt SF.

I have the title, last registration, and all service records for the bike.

For me, the registration fees are around $800 due to maxed out parking tickets. Fortunately the ticket fees stay with the original owner so you're only responsible for the 2010 registration plus late fees, or approximately $300. So, for my $350 asking price, a new battery (estimate around $110), the approximate $300 registration fee plus your personal labor you've got yourself a pretty good working and decent looking bike for the money.
